So I have been a bit busy of late, what with trying to renovate a house and clean it up for sale whilst working full time, chasing after 3 kids and playing taxi driver. It’s been hectic and I’m sorry, but hey it’s better late than never right?
I shot this fantastic, romantic and utterly brilliant Brisbane River wedding in November (where the hell did that 7 months just go!). Megan and Steve are lovely, laid back people who just wanted to get married down by the river and hang with their friends and family. So, they did just that. I was so chuffed to be able to capture this special day for them, and my god the locations down at Riverlife Kangaroo Point are awesome! Brisbane city skyline against dramatic rock faces, lush trees and the beautiful Brisbane River. What’s not to love!?
Megan wore the most amazing Theia dress covered in sequins, just stunning with a touch of vintage. #perfect I loved the little organic touches throughout the day too, with native flowers, kraft invites, and timber additions to the old boathouse reception setting. This wedding was my kind of shindig. The sort of celebration that makes me want to do my own wedding all over again so I can get dressed up and not have a satin dress or roses (yep, that’s what was trending 10 years ago), and for god’s sake not shoot on the beach with a cranky and rather underwhelming photographer! Anywho, here is the Brisbane River Wedding of Megan and Steve….

Marina and Grant made the trip down from Townsville to be married in a Brisbane city wedding in the presence of their family and friends. Both are involved in the armed forces, so it was only fitting that they marry in the chapel at Enoggera’s Gallipoli barracks. The day was a classy affair from start to finish, with black, white and silver the theme in true city style. Black suits, long flowing gowns and veils, silver accents. Gorgeous. My favourite thing of course was Marina’s striking blue shoes, because, well, why not? LOVE them!
Gambaro hotel was a perfect setting for Marina and Grant’s reception, overlooking Caxton Street and with the perfect Italian style food to match Marina’s heritage. Main Event Weddings did a wonderful job styling the venue, also providing the flowers on the day and ensuring it all went smoothly, which it did, until mother nature stepped in.
The heavens opened just as we arrived at Roma St Parklands (our planned location for photos), so some quick thinking ensued, and across the river we went to GOMA and the State Library. Good call! It was perfect. I just loved the real city wedding feel it gave to Marina and Grant’s photos, and the sun even made an appearance just as we were finishing! Sorry (not sorry) I made you get in the garden guys, but the photos are gorgeous! We had a blast, but the rooftop at Gambaro’s was the best part. After sunset, in fading light, we went up to the terrace and took some photos of some of the most amazing skies I have seen on the job. Needless to say, it was worth it.

They say it all happens at once. Well, it’s all happening at once over here at the moment!
On the back of a super busy wedding season, I have had the pleasure of being featured in a few wedding and bridal publications in the last few weeks. It’s really exciting seeing your images in print. No matter how many times it happens, I still get a kick out of it (even if I paid for advertising! I know, ridiculous, but true).
So here are the places you can find me right now. Well my imagery anyway. Right now I’m tucked away in my study with a glass of wine writing this post, but anyway, i digress (as usual).
Check out these classy publications at your local newsagent NOW!
Queensland Brides also have a little love for me with this editorial. They asked me for one of my favourite photos. This was the wedding of Sarah and Rob last December. I absolutely love this shot of Sarah’s Dad during the ceremony. Such a sweet moment I had the pleasure of witnessing. You can check out the rest of that wedding here.
I was also super lucky to be featured on the Queensland Brides blog the other day with a photo in their top 15 for 2015! This is from the wedding of Imogen and Dave and was a cracker of a wedding at the Sheraton Mirage Main Beach. Check out the Qld Brides Blog post here.
The Wedding Guide is another Publication that’s got the goods. I was lucky enough to have a couple of weddings feature in the current (and new) edition, as well as a few other morsels of loveliness throughout. One such wedding was that of Lauren and Tony. Any wonder, this wedding was amazing! Check out Lauren and Tony’s Branell Homestead wedding on my blog here, and purchase your copy of the Gold Coast edition of The Wedding Guide now!
I can’t keep up with all of the upcoming wedding expos and events I’m attending, so here’s a quick list to keep you informed (to also keep me from losing my mind!). You can find me at the following shin digs:

Louise and Michael are awesome people. I met Louise at the Queensland Brides Expo last year, and that was when the fun began in planning their romantic Brisbane City wedding which took place in May (my favourite time of year), at the grand St Patricks Catholic Church in Fortitude Valley and Room 360 at QUT Gardens Point campus. Room 360 Wedding
The whole day was a relaxed and fun affair with an air of elegance that only a city wedding can bring. I just loved the location and thoroughly enjoyed the contrasts between the green of the botanical gardens and the concrete jungle of the Goodwill bridge and rich sandstone of old government house at QUT. Room 360 provided the perfect setting for guests to celebrate with spectacular views of the city and elegant styling by Willow Tree Creative and florals by Bella Bloom Floral Designs.
I love seeing families come together and this wedding was no exception. Michael’s daughter Scarlett was flower girl, and she thoroughly enjoyed being involved with all of the preparations and ceremonial tasks for the day. She was just precious, and it was wonderful to see. Good job Scarlett!
Michael’s family has Russian heritage, so the inclusion of vodka shots at the reception to toast the newlyweds was also a highlight for me (and them). Boy, do they know how to party! On that note, a big thank you to Louise and Michael for allowing me to capture your day. I had a ball! Congratulations guys, may you spend many years together making more awesome memories (vodka optional).
