When Ben and Katrina told me they had planned a Lego, yes you read that right, LEGO themed wedding reception I have to say I was more than a little bit excited. You see, it’s weddings like these that keep us creative types on our toes. We live for this stuff. The different, the out-there, the ‘why the hell not?’
Everybody already knows that Lego is awesome (pun intended). These guys just took their interest and incorporated into the most special day in their lives thus far, and let me tell you, they nailed it. It wasn’t over the top, it was just a whole bunch of fun inserted in exactly the right places.
The highlight of the day was definitely the cake. What an excellent cake! Business in the front, party at the back. There wasn’t a guest/staff member/photographer who didn’t love the cake. A truly epic win from Frosted Indulgence.
Anyhow, this wedding had it all. Spectacular scenery accompanied by sun, showers and whispy cloud on the weather front, and some good old fashioned romance mixed with a surprise of fun and frivolity. I hope you enjoy it too.

Louise and Michael are awesome people. I met Louise at the Queensland Brides Expo last year, and that was when the fun began in planning their romantic Brisbane City wedding which took place in May (my favourite time of year), at the grand St Patricks Catholic Church in Fortitude Valley and Room 360 at QUT Gardens Point campus. Room 360 Wedding
The whole day was a relaxed and fun affair with an air of elegance that only a city wedding can bring. I just loved the location and thoroughly enjoyed the contrasts between the green of the botanical gardens and the concrete jungle of the Goodwill bridge and rich sandstone of old government house at QUT. Room 360 provided the perfect setting for guests to celebrate with spectacular views of the city and elegant styling by Willow Tree Creative and florals by Bella Bloom Floral Designs.
I love seeing families come together and this wedding was no exception. Michael’s daughter Scarlett was flower girl, and she thoroughly enjoyed being involved with all of the preparations and ceremonial tasks for the day. She was just precious, and it was wonderful to see. Good job Scarlett!
Michael’s family has Russian heritage, so the inclusion of vodka shots at the reception to toast the newlyweds was also a highlight for me (and them). Boy, do they know how to party! On that note, a big thank you to Louise and Michael for allowing me to capture your day. I had a ball! Congratulations guys, may you spend many years together making more awesome memories (vodka optional).

When Lauren and Tony told me they were planning to marry in St Mary’s church in Ipswich in March I was a little excited. I LOVE church architecture, and St Mary’s is one gorgeous old lady right in town. It only got better from there. The bridal preparation and reception all took place on a picturesque property in the beautiful Lockyer Valley called Branell Homestead (in Laidley). Lauren had mentioned they had a library in the homestead. This tipped me over the edge. A LIBRARY! For months I thought about shooting in that library and what I could do with something so awesome. There were also many places to shoot outside, and we loved the tiny jetty overlooking the dam where the vintage inspired reception was held. Not only did we have a lot of fun shooting at Branell Homestead, I just loved the rural setting (we don’t see a lot of that on the Gold Coast!) and the sunset was nothing short of spectacular. I mean, you couldn’t plan it, it was just that good. Let me show you what I mean.
