Alex and Chris are two of the most laid back people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We met, we talked about their wedding, and that was that. We waited for August to roll around so I could capture their day.

Alex and Chris chose the well-manicured lawn at Braeside Chapel in Merrimac on the Gold Coast (a personal favourite of mine, shout out to John and Judy who are excellent hosts) for their garden wedding at the end of winter, and what a great choice it was!

Details began to come together, and we were excited. I was especially stoked with their transport, a giant red double decker bus from Magic Bus Hire in Byron Bay  . Both bride and groom travelled to Braeside with their bridal party, the boys taking the bottom level (with Chris blindfolded all the way) and the girls on the upper deck.

This day was about fun, love and family and friends. So naturally, I had a blast. Lawn games, beer wagons, converse, and the official #cutestparentsever was a recipe for an amazing day.

I should add here that poor Chris had the worst bout of pneumonia resulting in a stay in hospital the week prior to the wedding, so he was feeling super craptacular, but it didn’t stop him from marrying his bride, and despite the fact we almost had to carry him a couple of times he made it through the day like a champ. I have to point out here also, the messages they sent each other with the lightbox were completely unscripted. No coaxing or hints from me. I was more than a little amazed. These guys were obviously meant for each other.

Here is the wedding of Alex (or if you are their ring-in celebrant, Alexander lol) and Chris…

So Nicola and James are adorable! They met quite a few years ago, when James spied Nicola wearing a Queen shirt and knew she was the girl for him. They both have a love of the band Queen (I know, could this get anymore awesome?). The rest they say, is history. After many years together, James finally popped that all-important question at; yep you guessed it, a Queen concert. Seriously! Wish I had captured that!

Pink was the order of the day, and while I’m not an overly pink loving gal, I was completely blown away by the show stopping dusty pink dress Nicola wore. I mean I literally gasped when I saw her for the first time, so you can just imagine James’ reaction! It was simply stunning and a joy to photograph a non-traditional bride. Nicola herself is just awesome. She giggled through the entire day with so much joy that it was contagious. James just adores Nicola, and it was excellent to be at a marriage rather than a wedding with their family and friends looking on.

When choosing particular elements for their big day, Nicola and James were super relaxed. After attending a performance at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Nicola immediately knew that was their dream venue (and I quite agree) with its perfect mix of eclectic, artsy and vintage. Nicola’s super amazing dress was bought off the rack (can you believe it?!), and lots of vintage elements were included throughout the day including mismatched chairs, lace doilies, typewriters, vintage inspired sweets and (my favourite) the old books with flowers seemingly growing out of them (made by the bride’s twin sister Mariam from Flowers of the World in Southbank). My other favourite (I’m sentimental) item was the snowflake cufflinks James wore as a tribute to his love’s nickname. Nicola also wore a snowflake pendant as her mum; a single mother of twins walked her down the aisle (to Queen’s wedding march – I nearly died with excitement. Best wedding march EVER!).

Oh, you may also notice the best man was in fact a woman. Love it! Carla totally rocked her best man duties like a boss too, and I’m stealing her dress.

Completely awesome day, congrats James and Nicola!

Brianna and Chris are honestly two of the most lovely people I have ever met. Both are just so easy going and the thing that makes me love them most is the fact they just love each other so openly and in a quiet, sweet and intimate way that makes it seem like the world is just passing them by as they travel through it in their little bubble. So when it came to their wedding day, I have to say I was excited. I had visited the venue Cherbon Waters over at Burbank (15 minutes from Brisbane city!) and fallen in love with the gardens (not to mention the lovely staff – and no this is not a sponsored post in any way) so I couldn’t wait to see what Brianna and Chris had organised for their ceremony and reception.

Oh boy, was I not disappointed.

> Let me first point out here that what completely blew me away about this day was that it was about the marriage, not the wedding. The wedding was fabulous and gorgeous and everything you would expect from such a lovely venue but this was about love, family and celebrating everything that holds these together; and I loved it. Every minute <

We were blessed with a perfect Autumn day. Not too hot (thank goodness!), and a wonderful sky full of sunlight which made the gardens just beautiful. Family and friends gathered in the garden under the gazebo and witnessed Brianna and Chris (who played a killer game of rock, paper, scissor to kick off the vow making – Chris lost that lol) declare themselves life-long companions before congratulating the couple who were then whisked off to spend some time with me taking photos while they mingled in the garden with drinks and canapés.

The photos, ahhh the photos!!! Good lord, what a sunset. Spectacular. End of.

Here is the marriage of Brianna and Chris.

Last Thursday evening I attended the very first A Little Vintage Bliss Wedding Hub Bride’s Marketta. It was a fun, relaxed and FABULOUS night filled with all kinds of goodies and treats where brides (and grooms) to be could come and have a chat to various industry vendors about their wedding services, without the push and shove of a regular expo. Needless to say, this little bridal expo was a big hit with everyone involved!

The guests all received a goodie bag upon entry, and were free to wander around at their leisure to check out the fantastic services the wedding hub members, including myself, had to offer. We had groovy tunes provided by Mc Gee Entertainment (and they were awesome); canapé’s from the guys at See You Next Thursday, who provide not only event services but also personalised catering to brides and grooms in house (no more food worries!); the My Vintage Lane caravan bar; Woody (the bar trailer), Rusta (the Kombi Van) and their caretakers from Luxury of Vintage Enterprises providing refreshments along with the Bartender; some delicious cakes and lollies from Sugarize Events, Cakeit4u and Lush Lolly Bars; and various other vendors including:

The highlight of the evening, was of course the three gorgeous models we had cruising around in their stunning House of Serendipity Gowns. They really made the event wonderful, chatting to all the vendors and guests and posing for photos. It really was a great night, and we can’t wait to do it all again in September. Planning has already begun! See you there 😉

So one of my lovely clients gave me a bunch of balloons. And then this happened……Here is a little session we had fun shooting in the park. It’s short, and sweet, and fluffy and I love it. The Ballerina and the Balloons <3
