Karla + Eugene’s Dunedin Railway Station Wedding

Karla and Eugene’s Dunedin Railway Station February 2020 wedding seems like a lifetime ago now. In true 2020 style, we had grand plans to shoot their location photos in some stunning outdoor areas, but weather happened. Not just any weather, the kind of wonderful sideways rain that is so easy to work with when you’re holding 2 cameras plus an umbrella and still getting soaked while the poor bridal party battle wearing formal attire in a once a year storm. Yep, thanks for that 2020 you bastard. Luckily for us, we have the stunning Dunedin railway station, and wasn’t it grand!!! Old buildings really float my boat, and I almost needed one on this occasion haha.

Karla and Eugene both come from Pacific Island families, so it was fabulous to see the inclusion of their cultures throughout the day. From the beautifully woven mat they were married on at St Patricks, to the dancing and blessings performed at the reception, I truly valued bearing witness to the love and togetherness their cultures offered. There definitely should be more of this included in wedding ceremonies!

Despite the weather causing major upheaval, the day was a heap of fun. Lots of laughs were had, mostly at Eugene’s expense during the ceremony (poor guy was so nervous he could barely concentrate, and any wonder, his wife to be looked stunning!). I’m actually stoked I got the group photo captured outside the church right before the heavens opened. That’s a win in my book! Here is the Dunedin Railway Station wedding of Karla + Eugene.
