The most perfect pink Powerhouse Brisbane wedding
So Nicola and James are adorable! They met quite a few years ago, when James spied Nicola wearing a Queen shirt and knew she was the girl for him. They both have a love of the band Queen (I know, could this get anymore awesome?). The rest they say, is history. After many years together, James finally popped that all-important question at; yep you guessed it, a Queen concert. Seriously! Wish I had captured that!
Pink was the order of the day, and while I’m not an overly pink loving gal, I was completely blown away by the show stopping dusty pink dress Nicola wore. I mean I literally gasped when I saw her for the first time, so you can just imagine James’ reaction! It was simply stunning and a joy to photograph a non-traditional bride. Nicola herself is just awesome. She giggled through the entire day with so much joy that it was contagious. James just adores Nicola, and it was excellent to be at a marriage rather than a wedding with their family and friends looking on.
When choosing particular elements for their big day, Nicola and James were super relaxed. After attending a performance at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Nicola immediately knew that was their dream venue (and I quite agree) with its perfect mix of eclectic, artsy and vintage. Nicola’s super amazing dress was bought off the rack (can you believe it?!), and lots of vintage elements were included throughout the day including mismatched chairs, lace doilies, typewriters, vintage inspired sweets and (my favourite) the old books with flowers seemingly growing out of them (made by the bride’s twin sister Mariam from Flowers of the World in Southbank). My other favourite (I’m sentimental) item was the snowflake cufflinks James wore as a tribute to his love’s nickname. Nicola also wore a snowflake pendant as her mum; a single mother of twins walked her down the aisle (to Queen’s wedding march – I nearly died with excitement. Best wedding march EVER!).
Oh, you may also notice the best man was in fact a woman. Love it! Carla totally rocked her best man duties like a boss too, and I’m stealing her dress.
Completely awesome day, congrats James and Nicola!

It's all about the vibes - connecting with clients | Indigo Images - […] I met Nicola fleetingly at a wedding expo before we sat down and had a coffee at her venue (Powerhouse Brisbane) some weeks later. She is a quietly spoken criminologist who had one of the most amazing weddings I’ve ever been to. Nicola and James are massive Queen fans (I love Queen also) and one of the best moments of my photography career came when Nicola walked down the aisle to the wedding march from Flash Gordon played by Queen. I almost lost it. BEST.EVER! What I love about Nicola and James is they did it their way. Pink wedding dress, best woman, queen songs galore, vintage cars and decor. These are my people. Just do you and you can’t go wrong. Loved every moment of this wedding. You can find it here on the blog […]
